If I had a dollar for all the times people have told me they are too busy to do this or that, I would be a billionaire by now!
"I'm too busy" appears to be the new black! It's sooo in fashion and trendy these days that most of humanity seems to be trying it on for size!
Being flat out and run off your feet even appears to be the new yardstick for success. It seems that if we are filling our time with endless tasks and then falling in a heap at the end of the day, we've finally 'made it'!
Poppycock, piffle, twaddle, bushwa, malarkey and bull shizen! (Note all of these words can be found in the dictionary...love it!)
Being productive... great! Being efficient and in flow... fabulous!
But being super busy is not an essential state in the 21st century, it's not healthy, it's not fun and it's not natural!
Since learning to meditate and observing my patterns I have noticed that the times that I used to make myself super busy were the times that my self esteem had dropped and the "I'm not good enough" voice had pumped up it's volume.
Racing around like a mad chicken helped me to feel more useful and distracted me from the critical self talk in my head. I would say "yes" to everything and take on way more than I could chew! The result... exhausted, stressed, unfulfilled and still feeling not good enough.
When I had the courage to stop and face my demons within, all this changed. My self esteem went up and I suddenly got really good at chilling out! I realised that I can spend time being productive and doing what I needed to do and as soon as my energy dropped I had the confidence to trust I had done enough and would go and rest. My doing time was more efficient and my resting time was... pure bliss!
Suddenly I could be fully present with the task or person in front of me rather than racing through my day distracted and in a blur!
Nature sets a great example of this. Animals are active for a while and then they relax fully! Ahhhhh simple!
"I'm too busy" is a crappy excuse not to meditate. It's a silly excuse not to exercise. It's a lame excuse not to eat well. And it's a ridiculous excuse not to enjoy life!
Time is an illusion. It's a creation of the mind.
The past is only memories.
The future is only dreams.
All we really have is NOW!
This is it!
The eternal NOW!
There is plenty of time for you to enjoy life.
