Have you ever felt the big rumblings of change coming but you are not clear what that change is?
Have you ever felt that your current circumstances are beginning to feel old and stale and you are ready to move onto something new... but you're not sure what, when, why or how?
Or maybe you know exactly what you want to do but you are paralysed with fear or overwhelm and terrified of taking the first step out of your comfort zone.
This is a feeling we all experience at different stages of our lives.
The divine crossroads on the adventure of life... a place that we can easily get stuck in for years waiting for the courage and clarity to move.
I certainly have been there many times myself. However, being the courageous free bird that I am I refuse to get stuck for too long.
When the rumblings of change arrive for me I am often drawn to a powerful spot in nature to contemplate. Nature is one of life's greatest inspirations. When immersed in nature any mental chatter, shoulds, doubts and fears usually dissolve and I am connected with the callings of my soul.
One of the biggest turning points of my life was 12 years ago when I was still working as an Occupational Therapist in the hospital system. I was counselling and teaching palliative care patients meditation, and ensuring their home was setup safely, which I loved, but the medical model and hospital system was driving me mad! Ahhhhh!
How could a job that I love be so frustrating!?! I had big dreams and visions bubbling below the surface but I could barely see past the safety of my regular government paid income and the conservative structure of the medical health system.
Until... I felt the call to Uluru.
It was always a dream of mine to visit the giant rock in the centre of Australia but I had never made it. It felt like a place of pilgrimage to me... a giant nature cathedral in the desert.
A great opportunity arose to go and I jumped at the chance. My sister and I flew to Alice Springs and we connected with some friends who were living and working in the staff quarters near Uluru. I never wanted to visit such a powerful place on a whip around, snap a photo and leave type tour. If I was to visit such a spiritual place... it needed to be in a quiet and intimate way.
I spent 10 life changing days exploring Uluru and it's surroundings with the private guidance of a friend who was living there. We had as much time as we needed meditating and deeply drinking from the endless well of energy, power and inspiration that the region offers.
Ahhhh pure bliss!
This was the first time that I experienced what is known as a 'satori' in the meditation world.
A satori is a moment of awakening where we can clearly see and recognise our true nature.
I had experienced little moments and had glimpses in my meditations before but while sitting quietly beside the majestic Uluru... all of my doubts and fears completely disappeared. My mind was so quiet that I could only hear my breath and my heart beat which was beating at the same frequency of the earth I was sitting on.
I could feel no separation between me and the vast expanse of life around me.
This 'state' continued for weeks. Even on my return to Melbourne.. my mind remained silent. There was just each unfolding moment and an intuitive flow... no mind commentary, no judgements, no doubts.
After a few weeks my mind started to return with it's chattery commentary and its should and shouldn'ts, but life's deepest truth had now been embodied not just understood...
I'm not my thoughts.
I am the source of life that is connected to everything and everyone. I could clearly hear and see what my souls calling was.
Soon after my return I could see the next step required on my path and I quit my hospital job and opened my own private practice clinic in Melbourne, offering counselling sessions, massage and teaching mediation.
Finally I could do what I loved, on my terms and in my own way.
It had its challenges like any worthwhile path but it was completely in line with my deepest soulful yearning.
My career has taken many twists and turns since then to be the travelling online coach and mentor that I am today but at each crossroad... I continue to allow nature to be my greatest inspiration.
This is why I have created an awesome opportunity for you to experience this too!
