Spiritual seekers like you and me, often love love love to have our mind blown away.
We luuurve to have moments when the veils of perception drop, even for just a second and the bright light of who we are bursts through to knock our socks off. Wham!
Following on from last weeks blog on addictions, I must confess I was a 'spiritual experience addict' in the past.
I travelled all over the world, sat at the feet of many masters and meditated for days on end because I was addicted to altered states of consciousness and extra-ordinary experiences that defied logic.
I loved science, logic and reasoning at school and university, but I was drawn to explore the unseen and mysterious realms of spirituality. I learned to astral travel, I developed my psychic awareness, learned to read energy and to see past lives. Yep pretty woowoo!
I watched shamans turn into jaguars before my very eyes, I saw healers remove blobs of darkness from their patients bodies, I saw cancers dissolve in a day, I watched people throw away their glasses after a healer waved his hand over their eyes and I saw many souls (bright lights) leave their bodies when working with the dying. The more weird, crazy, 'out there' or supernatural... the more I wanted to explore it.
I have story after story of people and experiences that completely blew my mind away and both challenged and changed the way I perceive reality.
BUT there is one experience that blows all the others away.
There was one moment that completely dissolved my obsession with spiritual experiences and put an end to the obsessive search.
The experience is probably not what you expect!
Life and nature moves in constant cycles and it appears that our emotional maturing and our spiritual awakening moves in similar cycles too. Round and round we go! Are you dizzy yet?
I began my spiritual journey moving away from the ordinary day to day human experiences and dived head first into the subtle yet extraordinary nature of the spiritual world.
After numerous wild and crazy experiences which point to our extraordinary spiritual nature, there was one experience that had the most profound impact. And here it is...
I woke up...
Opened my eyes...
And saw the sun rise over the horizon...
I breathed in a new day...
I went to the kitchen and made my breakfast and cup of tea...
I sat down to eat my breakfast and drink my cup of tea...
The wind blew. The trees moved. The birds cheeped.
Thoughts came and went. Emotions bubbled through.
And I embraced and accepted it all.
No fighting the moment.
No expecting it to be different.
No hoping for a better moment to come.
No escaping into the energetic realms to see angles and bright lights falling from the heavens.
We are amazing spiritual beings but the true art of life is to embrace our humanness.
The natural cycle of spiritual growth led me right back to the same place... a simple human moment... yet with a profound acceptance for life as it is.
Just a simple cup of tea, a bunch of human emotions and a deep love for the gift of life itself!
True spirituality is not fireworks and out of body experiences. It is simple, ordinary moments embraced with extraordinary love and acceptance.
May we follow our inner drives that often lead us to explore the cosmic and subtle realms of existence as these can be an important part of the cycle of growth. But may we also return to innocence and simplicity, remembering that each moment has it's own perfection to be embraced.
Right here. Right now.
May we open to the extraordinary within each moment by fully embracing the ordinary.
If there are parts of your life you find difficult to embrace or aspects of spirituality you wish to explore book in a skype counselling session or undertake my awakening program and we can shine bright together.
