Now that I am 30 weeks pregnant the fears of childbirth and parenthood are beginning to rise. Ahhhh!
Fear is such a natural part of change and needs to be met each time we move out of our comfort zone and into new territory.
How much anxiety do you experience everyday?
Does fear hold you back from your dreams?
Do you usually avoid it or face it so that you can keep moving towards your visions?
It is time for us all to stop running from anxiety and to face it!
Anxiety gets a bad rap because it appears to be what holds us back from living the life we were born to live, but it has an very important place in the spectrum of human emotions when befriended.
The key that I have found to deal with anxiety in my life and with my clients is firstly to make friends with anxiety.
YES that's right make friends with it.
Not medicate it, not ignore it, not numb it, not punch it in the face, not distract from it... just plain and simple, good ole' fashioned 'make it your new best buddy'... befriend it.
When we make a new friend we spend time with them, we hang out, we talk, we share stories and we love and accept each other just as we are. We support each other, we share our needs and we laugh together. When we have got to know each other really well we can go for months and months apart and the deep love bond remains.
The same works when dealing with anxiety. After some time hanging out and spending some intimate time together anxiety no longer comes to visit so often and just pops in from time to time.
Soooo I would like to introduce you to anxiety right now. It's time for you to get re-acquainted.

Close your eyes and scan your body for a few seconds and see if there is any high or low level anxiety running in your system right now. Then keep reading. Go scan now!
If you can't find any anxiety in your being... yay for you... come back and read this another day... but remember that anxiety can also often present itself dressed as restless, irritable, tense, distracted, bored or jittery.
Give your anxiety a rating out of ten. Then read the following words and rate your anxiety again at the end.

Hello wise soul,
Nice to meet you. I know that I am an uncomfortable feeling to hang out with at first but if you give me some time I get much easier to be with. Please stop running from me as I have a gift for you. Yes that's right a gift.
Each time I squeeze your adrenals it is to get your attention so that I can give you this gift, but you seem to try and distract yourself from me. You drink, take drugs, eat, turn to the internet, TV or facebook and constantly entertain yourself so that you don't have to feel me..... but please feel me. I'm worth it. If you have the courage to feel me I have all the treasures of the universe to give you. I am the doorway for all of the things that you seek... love, joy, freedom and peace.
I am the pathway that leads to where you really yearn to be. Your home... the essence of you. So please don't ignore me anymore. Sit with me. Be with me. Listen to me. Hear me out. Open your heart to me as I have a story to tell.
The gift that I bring you is the present moment. If there is imminent danger please use my energy to move away from the treat but 99.9% of the time I am activated when you think a thought of separation and worry. The moment that you think that you are not enough, that you need to be more get more do more is the moment I arrive to remind you that you are perfect as you are.
Yes yes yes that's my job to show you that you are stuck in your head and your mind is off seeking and striving to be more that what you already are.
So if I am present in your body right now, breathe into me, allow me to be the alarm bell that I am. Allow me to alert you to the truth of the present moment.
The truth... is no matter what thoughts are going through your head... they are not true. Fearful thoughts are not to be believed.
The truth is that you are a living miracle.
You are so vast and magical and a walking talking miracle of existence and you have found yourself on this earth as a blessing.
No matter what is going on in your life... no matter what challenges you face... you are magnificent. A living, breathing miracle. All you need to do is take your next breath and surrender to the blessing of being alive. That's it. That's all you need to do.
Live, breathe, enjoy whatever emotions arise within you... anxiety or any of my fellow feeling buddies who come along. Sadness, anger, grief, shame.
We are all your friends and only ever come to remind you to STOP BELIEVING YOUR THOUGHTS and to be present.
See the beauty in even the most challenging moments and then you are free. Free to imperfectly perfect. Free to be humanly divine. Free to be both the order and the chaos. Free to just be.
