A little angel was born on a full moon... Sunday Jan 24th at 3.33pm!
I'd love you to meet our precious gem Ruby Jay.
Ruby was 3 weeks past her due date and after much waiting, patience and a gentle nudge she finally entered this amazing world and has exploded our hearts into a million pieces!
Due on New Years Day, she took her time making her entrance.
The usual suggested medical induction is 40 weeks (full term) plus 10 days. However my instincts were saying that she was just not ready... so we waited, and waited and waited.
Finally at just over 42 weeks we went to get tests to make sure she was ok in there and true to my instincts they couldn't find anything wrong so we continued to wait.
We tried every natural induction method known to man... acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, lots of sex, raspberry leaf tea, pineapples, dates, daily walks, daily swims to name a few... we even lightly bounced on a trampoline to nudge her downward...
... ahhhhh but Miss Ruby was happy inside and keen to wait for her divine timing (which included a full moon and ditching Capricorn for Aquarius!)
Our patience ran out at just over 43 weeks when the risks of waiting increased by the day so we let go of the home birth option and she was given a gentle nudge and birthed in the hospital.
The above photo was taken 30 mins after her birth. She had no signs of being 'overcooked' confirming my instincts which took all of the trust I could muster to override modern medicine's opinion.
The birth was definitely the most empowering, magical and intense experience of my life. The first half was like a blissful dance with the waves in the ocean. The second half was wild, primal and animal like... complete with jaguar roars required to move the immense flow of energy through.
The entire labour was 4 and a half hours and a wild ride...
a miracle made...
a new angel on earth...
an exciting new life has begun!
Another confirmation in life to trust our instincts...
