Money is often a dirty word in spiritual communities so I'd love to share my insights and revelations on this controversial topic and discuss what has transformed my financial world from famine to feast.
So let's talk money, honey!
We are told we are materialistic if we focus on it, but if we don't have it, it can make living in the modern world quite challenging to say the least.
Money, money, money... you can love it, or hate it, but unless you are prepared to live in an ashram, walk the streets with your hand out or put up a tent somewhere in nature... it has become one of our modern day necessities.
Is money one of your trigger points for stress?
If so... you are not alone.
When I sent out the Silent Nature tribe survey last year (click here to fill out), many people had money high up on the scale of life challenges and big stressors.
I have clients who have millions of dollars who stress about money and I have clients who are on government benefits who stress about money. Whether you have money coming out your ears or you're scratching around like a hungry chicken to get some... money is something that we can all benefit from finding peace with.
It is time to learn to be the master of money... not the slave.
My personal journey with money has been and continues to be an area where huge personal growth has arisen.
When I started on the path of meditation 20 years ago my quest was to learn how to find peace and live a happy life with the smaaaaallest need for money that I possibly could manage.
I spent years traveling through developing countries who seemed pretty happy with very little, so I set out to find a way to live super simply in the western world.
I lived like a shoestring backpacker and learned to make $100 go further than anyone I knew. I would always find a bargain, I would shop at op shops, I would grow my own veggies, mother nature was my free entertainment, I would charge next to nothing for my therapy services because I felt too greedy to charge more, I would try and trade services instead of buy and I would always find the absolute cheapest way to do everything. I was well on my way to mastering the minimalist lifestyle.
It was challenging, fun, it felt wholesome and taught me that peace and happiness is definitely available with very little cash in my pocket.
All of the richness and wealth that I developed was inner wealth and inner richness. I felt like a spiritual millionairess! Rich in wisdom, peace, freedom and personal power........
BUT in my quest to live simply I had gone so far left of field that I noticed I actually repelled money.
I judged money, I judged people who spent flippantly, I felt money was dirty and was the root of many of the worlds problems, yet I secretly wanted more money.
I was ashamed of actually wanting money. I felt very unspiritual and suppressed any attraction to money for years.
UNTIL I was forced to deeply investigate my relationship with money.
I found that money was like a stranger to me. It was like the person who I did my best to avoid because I was told they were bad.
So I decided it was time to really get to know money.
I discovered that money wasn't the bad guy. Money is innocent. It is simply energy and its powerful impact depends on the hands (and heart) who is holding it.
I investigated within and found that I was drawn to money to be able to reach more people with my soulful message. I had peace driven business idea after idea that I kept rejecting as I needed money to get them off the ground.
I yearned to be able to support the soulful companies who charged more for their products and services because they used ethical ingredients, moral work standards and authentic practices. By finding the cheapest bargain all the time I had kept supporting some of the immoral companies I disliked. I also yearned to be able to financially support many of the causes that touched my heart.
It was a powerful day when I realised there was a great big split down the centre of my being.
I had put money and spirituality in two separate corners in my mind and they were at war. Spirituality had won the fight for many years but money was fighting back hard. It was exhausting to keep them separate... so I ended the war.
They finally kissed and made up.
Now they are best buddies and are both fully aligned on the same mission. Woohoo!
As soon as I made peace with money it started flowing effortlessly into my life.
Money is now embraced as a powerful player in my soulful mission.... which is to inspire peace and freedom to millions of hearts around the planet.
So... over now to you.
Does money cause you stress in your life?
Are you struggling to make ends meet?
Is your financial situation impacting your health, relationships and holding back your dreams?
If so, I invite you to investigate your beliefs and relationship with money.
One clear lesson I learned on my journey is when we change our attitude about money, we change our ability to manifest it to fuel a balanced life and our soulful dreams.
If you are completely happy with a simple life as I was for many years... fabulous, but if your intuition is guiding you to step up financially, trust it.
It's time for a spiritual revolution and for gorgeous soulful hearts like YOU to stand up and say YES to receiving financial abundance because you are the sort of person who will ensure it is used in heartfelt ways to support yourself, humanity and the planet.
Here's to an abundance of peace, freedom and money!
