Ever wondered why sometimes it seems so hard to do the things that are good for us?
Do you beat yourself up when you haven't stuck to a healthy regime of eating, exercising or meditating?
Over the years I have attributed much of my emotional stability, mental clarity, general zest for life and my success in business/life to the solid foundation of my healthy lifestyle. A balanced lifestyle is the nourishing soil that an inspiring life grows from. My life today feels like a strong sturdy oak tree of health and balance.
But it wasn't always easy and for years I fluctuated back and forth operating from a half full cup of energy and life force. There was more output and give, give giving than self nourishment and receiving. Ex-hausting!
With only a half filled cup I was less resilient to take life's knocks, I was more likely to create drama and I was pushing to control outcomes rather than just surrendering to the flow.
What started off requiring discipline is now just an easy natural way to live. Healthy food, exercise, meditation and the balance of work, rest and play are now effortlessly woven into each day. Well maybe there appears to be more rest and play than work these days since living in Bali!
On today's blog I'd like to share a few secrets that have worked for me to stay disciplined to live a super healthy life.
1. Reframing - the word discipline has a boring and rigid connotation to it. I prefer to call it SKILL BUILDING. My rebellious side would automatically emerge when I would crack the internal whip of discipline... but to simply challenge myself to build a certain skill or to create the masterpiece of my life... that was much more enticing. Force was replaced with practice... and practice is the cornerstone of mastering any skill. This would allow me to be fascinated at the changes as I learned new life skills. It built curiosity rather than rebelliousness. So I invite you to simply practice the skills required for healthy living and who knows what inspiring and life changing path it will take you on!
2. Self Respect / Self worth - My ability to comfortably stick to a healthy routine and to continuously build upon it, grew ten fold when... I faced my shit! Those pesky blobs of unhealthy self worth would weaken my resolve and commitment to myself and my dreams and they needed to be faced, met and let go of. Many healers and masters helped me to identify my patterns and to release the emotions that underlie them. After facing the big issues there was less and less discipline required and it was replaced with a natural desire to nourish my being on all levels.
3. Accountability - after undertaking a few retreats and guided programs where I was being encouraged and supported, it helped me to greatly increase my motivation to want to both nurture and challenge myself. Being accountable to someone gave me the fuel required to transform my lifestyle to greater levels of nourishment, success and inner peace.
So if you can do with a boost of discipline this month, both my month intensive Skype counselling/coaching program (Wellness Adventure) and six week Ecourse (Stress 2 Serenity) supercharge your self respect, make you accountable to a coach and inspire you to make the changes you know you need to truly shine! It's time to honour you like never before!
